I may not be able to play scriptural ping pong as well as some, but something Reniaa said a couple of pages back made me think

That comment about refinement was something my Mom would always use to prove that JWs have the truth. It always bothered me because, why would God use deception and/or outright lies to "test" his people? In my mind, that would make God anything but loving.

Reniaa, I don't know you, as I haven't been posting very long, but it seems to me, that you are unwilling to respond to specific questions. You also equated the Watchtower and Awake to "tools". If I were to build a structure, based in a set of plans, and if my "tools" were not right, say my tape measure is off by an inch, the building won't match the plans. Should that be the customers fault because they aren't satisfied? Would the fault lie with the architect? No, it would be the builders fault for misreading the plans, however good his intentions were.

As many others keep pointing out, that verse in Deut. is pretty cut and dried.

It amazes me I fell for this B.S.

Try posting something on this site. I ran into it a couple of weeks ago, and thought it might be interesting to see if I could get any responses to some pretty tame questions about WTS. My comments were never posted. They must have been deemed too scary.

For a group that says that only they will be able to stand up to the combined efforts of Satan and all the worlds governments to shut them down, you'd think a little question about the memorial would be childs play.

Has anyone read any of OSHO's books, particularily The Book Of Understanding?

He brings up metatrons argument. He thinks that mankind needs to embrace both- Western science to improve the physical world, and Eastern spirituality to improve ourselves.

I agree with Satanus. Hinduism to me is the most reasonable, if I was forced to pick one.

I do like Hinduisms tolerance of other viewpoints. Ramakrishna equated all the worlds religions as heading to the same place.

My sons first real birthday celebration...

so my youngest son turned 5 today.

this was our first real party for one of our children.

we always did what i expect alot of us witnesses did, have a "special day" party...just not calling it a birthday.

We always did what I expect alot of us witnesses did, have a "special day" party...just not calling it a birthday. We had a good time, even invited some neighbor kids over for cake. They came over with their Dad, who wanted to wish Satchel a happy birthday. He thought it would be a great idea for his kids to sing happy birthday to my son. So we all joined in.

After they went home my wife and I were talking about how weird it felt, we wondered if we had done the birthday thing right, wich seems completely ridiculous. It made me think of how deeply the tentacles of "The Truth" penetrate a person.

Any thoughts on how long its taken you to shed the last shreds of "the new personality"?

I guess I would rather do a half-assed job of being "wordly", than be a blind sheep anyday!

during the first part about submission, everyone gave the same comments about being obedient to the elders even though you may not agree with them.

and they talked about submission to the organization no matter what.. no one, i mean no one raised the possibility that the counsel or instructions might be wrong, or harmful.

That's exactlly what happened. Only one of the elders got involved, and that was only to get him out of there A.S.A.P.

my wife has been baptized for a little less than that time period.. been an aux poi., reg pio, ms. wife is a reg pio currently.

The last turd of a meeting I went to was 2 weeks ago. I went to support my 13 year old son who got suckered into a talk by my mother in law. He is everything I wish I could have been, He sees the "Truth" for what it is, but doesn't want to stir up too much shit with his Gramma.

Right before his talk, someone in the back of the hall started having a heart attack. I saw all of this from the 2nd school.(My goatee and earrings scare too many "freinds") Paramedics had to bee called, but not even someone in an obvious fight for his life didn't stop the f*&cking spiritual food from being dispensed. The paramedics had to keep speaking louder and louder to be heard over the comments during the "bible highlights".

Nothing was even mentioned about the incident the rest of the meeting. That was soooo surreal.

I'm glad I'm out for good

What does nicotine feel like?

i have never smoked or used any tobacco products aside from puffing on a cigar a few times (maybe 5 times in my life).

even with the few cigar experiences (which i did not enjoy much) i never noticed any real "feeling" from the tobacco.

what is it supposed to feel like?

I started smoking while I was inpatient in a "nut house", recovering from a suicide attempt after being DFed for apostasy, and then losing my wife and kids (Only temporary, I'm happy to say). Anyways, back to nicotine, greatest shit ever created! Seriously, I know I'm addicted to it, but the nicotine buzz rules...especially after several tasty vodka beverages!
